Professional Core
Workplace behaviour, communication, collaboration and professional practice.
SEAM Creative Network
SEAM Creative Network connects students, education institutions and creative businesses through structured workplace learning, mentorship and portfolio development.
We coordinate placements, support hosts and track students’ progress as they build practical skills and experience in the creative industries.
Partners can get involved by hosting students, offering mentorship, funding access or contributing tools and industry opportunities.
Institution-linked Work Integrated Learning is live. SEAM WIL+, our separate 80-hour, non-credit-bearing professional-development programme, is coming soon.
Endorsed by South African Fashion Week
SEAM Creative Network is proud to be endorsed by South African Fashion Week (SAFW), supporting our shared commitment to developing emerging talent within South Africa’s fashion and creative industries.
Through this collaboration, students gain access to practical industry experience, mentorship and opportunities to work alongside fashion professionals. From model castings and backstage production to content creation, visual communication and designer studio support, students can develop their skills in real working environments while building their professional portfolios.
Together, SEAM Creative Network and SAFW are creating opportunities for emerging creatives to gain the experience, confidence and industry connections needed to take the next step in their careers.
A network for students, creative businesses, education institutions and the partners who help make industry experience possible.
Institution-linked Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is already live. SEAM helps coordinate students’ workplace experience with hosts and education institutions, supporting practical learning, mentorship and portfolio development.
A host can offer a defined learning role; a mentor can guide or review work; an institution can connect its students; and a sponsor can help fund access or contribute resources. SEAM brings these contributions together and tracks student progress. Formal academic WIL remains governed by the student’s institution.
Practical workplace exposure, guidance and approved portfolio evidence to build skills and confidence.
A way to support emerging talent through structured host roles, feedback, mentorship and industry opportunities.
Connect learning to industry, support student access and follow the progress of the learners you support.
Live figures from SEAM’s institutional WIL portal show the network’s current activity. Registered institutions include active and prospective relationships; WIL+ progress will be reported separately.

Choose the contribution that fits you. SEAM will discuss the role, requirements and next steps with you.
From an initial enquiry to a supported workplace experience, SEAM coordinates the people, roles and progress along the way.
Students share their interests and education details. Hosts, institutions and mentors tell SEAM how they would like to contribute.
SEAM coordinates the student, host and institution where formal WIL applies, with roles, dates, briefs and requirements agreed for the placement.
Students gain practical exposure through an assigned workplace role, with guidance from their host and opportunities to develop their skills.
Students record their time and work. Hosts review the evidence and provide feedback, with institutional oversight where required.
Students use approved work and reflection to show what they have learned and prepare for their next opportunities.
SEAM WIL+ will offer a separate professional-development route as pilot cohorts open. Portfolio and talent reviews remain separate decisions.
SEAM connects the student, host, mentor and institution, supports onboarding and briefs, and keeps progress visible to the relevant people.
Invest in creative-sector youth development, skills transfer and workplace readiness.
Through CSI-aligned support, corporate partners can help expand access to placements, mentorship, workshops, tools, transport support, learning resources and creative-industry opportunities for students entering the world of work.
The structured 80-hour curriculum is being prepared for its first delivery cohorts. Learners will complete a Professional Core, specialist pathway learning, an industry challenge, portfolio development and a final readiness assessment.
Coming soon: 80 hours across six components, combining professional skills, specialist learning and portfolio development. WIL+ is non-credit-bearing and recorded separately from institutional WIL.

Institutional WIL
Credit-bearing or curriculum-linked placement activity governed by the education institution and its approved requirements.
SEAM WIL+ · 80-hour curriculum coming soon
A separate, non-credit-bearing professional-development and industry-readiness curriculum being prepared under SEAM's delivery and quality framework.
No combined hour total. No double-counting.
Dashboards show the two programmes separately. If an activity overlaps in time, the clock time cannot be validated in both. Productive commercial work outside structured learning requires a paid-work decision.
Learners must meet the 70% assessment baseline as well as attendance, component, evidence, integrity and quality-assurance gates. WIL+ completion does not automatically confer Verified Talent status.
Education institutions can participate in formal WIL support now and register interest in future WIL+ cohorts, subject to their own agreements and governance.
Apply as a student, offer a host role or mentorship, connect your institution, or support access through funding and resources. Tell SEAM how you would like to take part.
